Privacy Policy
Fishr is designed so your catch history, original photos, private notes, and exact fishing locations remain on your device unless you deliberately export or share them.
Information stored on your device
Fishr stores your chosen name, settings, catch records, original catch photos, notes, measurements, collection progress, and any saved coordinates locally on your device. Fishr uses camera, photo-library, and location access only after you grant the relevant iOS permission. Exact locations are private by default.
AI fish identification
When you request identification, Fishr sends a resized JPEG copy of the selected catch photo with embedded metadata removed. The request also includes a random catch identifier, the active catalogue and region identifiers, water type, and unit preference. It does not include exact coordinates, private notes, or your chosen name.
The request travels through Fishr’s Cloudflare Worker to OpenAI for image analysis. Fishr requests that OpenAI not store the response as application state. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer opts in. Under OpenAI’s default API controls, request content may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, subject to OpenAI’s documented exceptions and legal obligations.
Purchases
Apple processes App Store purchases. RevenueCat processes a pseudonymous app-user identifier, product and entitlement information, subscription status, and related transaction metadata so Fishr can provide and restore Fishr Pro. Fishr does not receive your full payment-card details.
Product analytics and crash diagnostics
When configured, PostHog receives deliberately defined events such as screen identifiers, funnel completion state, selected subscription plan, coarse region-pack identifiers, durations, and failure categories. Standard device, app, and network information may also be processed. Fishr disables automatic interaction capture and session replay. It does not send catch photos, exact locations, private notes, your chosen name, or raw user-entered text to PostHog.
Fishr may collect crash stack traces and technical diagnostics to improve reliability. Private catch content is not deliberately attached to diagnostics.
Service providers
Fishr uses service providers only to operate the features described above: Apple for distribution and payments, RevenueCat for subscription status, Cloudflare for the identification proxy and website hosting, OpenAI for fish-image analysis, and PostHog for limited analytics and crash diagnostics. Their processing is governed by their respective terms and privacy commitments.
Retention and deletion
Local Fishr data remains on your device until you delete individual catches, delete all Fishr data in Settings, or remove the app. Fishr’s identification Worker does not create a database of photos or request bodies; it keeps only limited operational logs without image content, coordinates, notes, or raw prompts. Third-party operational, subscription, analytics, and abuse-prevention records are retained according to the provider’s configured retention and legal requirements.
You can create a private export and delete all local catch data from Fishr Settings. For a request concerning processor-held data, contact us using the email below. We may need limited information to locate a pseudonymous record.
Sharing
Fishr does not sell personal information and does not use your data for cross-app advertising. A share card omits location unless you deliberately select a broad-area option; exact coordinates are never placed on the share card.
Children
Fishr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.
Security and international processing
Fishr uses platform security controls, encrypted HTTPS connections, protected local files, bounded uploads, and restricted backend credentials. No system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their applicable safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy as Fishr changes. We will revise the effective date and provide any notice required by law.
